HOW IT ALL BEGAN

In 2014, Ayat's life took an unforeseen turn following her volunteer work at Zaatari Refugee Camp, the largest settlement for Syrian refugees, now transformed into a permanent community at the Syria-Jordan border. There, she connected with numerous families and observed the devastating impact of the war on 80,000 of the world's most vulnerable individuals.

THE Journey Towards Change

Among them was Yaseen, an 8-year-old boy with a shy smile, standing behind other children, his eyes radiating a gentle sparkle that left an indelible mark on Ayat. She noticed his amputated right arm, felt a wave of emotion, and became determined to understand life through Yaseen's perspective. In Damascus, Yaseen had experienced a missile shell incident that cost him parts of his left upper limb while seeking safety with his family.

Yaseen's story mirrored that of thousands of children left with disabilities. Upon returning to her home in Chicago, Ayat's worldview underwent a profound transformation. Life could never be the same again. Ayat resolved to dedicate the rest of her life to making a difference in the lives of children and families fleeing conflict and enduring poverty worldwide.

Her extensive travels continued as she volunteered at various camps, aiding those recovering from war. In 2015, while volunteering in Lesvos, Greece—then the epicenter of the refugee crisis engulfing Europe—Ayat witnessed a dire situation. The crisis was in its early stages, with no large organized groups assisting, only small volunteer teams receiving thousands of refugees daily, drenched, freezing, and disoriented after arriving on dinghy boats.

A Vow to Remember

Overwhelmed and devastated by the unprecedented scene, Ayat vowed to do everything possible to restore hope and happiness to those affected. In 2018, she revisited Lesvos after hearing about the neglected and overcrowded Moria Refugee Camp, labeled as “the worst refugee camp on earth.” Aware of the ongoing global need, Ayat was inspired to establish Team Humanity USA in 2019.

New Beginning

Under Team Humanity USA, Ayat went around the globe to offer relief and support to those in need. From Africa to Pakistan, Team Humanity extended its services to bring the victims back to normalcy. These successful endeavors showed a path to Ayat and everyone involved. In 2023, the team behind Team Humanity USA thought of a transformative rebranding initiative with the vision of expanding its impact on a global scale.

Recognizing the increasing interconnectedness of our world and the shared responsibility to address global challenges, the organization has rebranded to Global Team 4 Humanity and repositioned itself to extend its reach beyond its initial scope. The rebranding reflects a commitment to universal values and a more comprehensive approach to humanitarian aid, leveraging its expertise and resources to address crises worldwide.

With a renewed focus on collaboration, innovation, and adaptability, Global Team 4 Humanity aims to foster sustainable solutions to complex issues, connecting with communities across borders to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of those facing adversity. This bold step towards a global identity signifies the organization’s dedication to making a positive impact on a broader scale and fostering a sense of collective responsibility for the well-being of humanity.

Global Team 4 Humanity was founded in 2019 after a vow was created to do “anything possible to instill hope and happiness back in the lives of people.”

Our focus is rescue efforts and emergency relief aid. We are committed to being the first to the frontlines to provide rescue efforts and emergency aid in response to disaster and conflict crises.
